EC-04 Molecular Electron Dynamics Investigated by IntensE Fields and Attosecond Pulses – MEDEA

What it is: MEDEA is a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network (ITN-ETN) funded in the framework of the HORIZON 2020 program (under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 641789). The research of the project is in the fields of attosecond (10−18 s) and intense femtosecond (10−15  s) extreme ultraviolet spectroscopy. Potentially impacted spheres are chemistry, surface science, and biology.
For certain experiments in this field, novel laser sources are required. This includes lasers in the mid-infrared region (wavelength 3-5 microns), which deliver short (<10−13  s), carrier-envelope phase stabilized pulses. In the project framework, the development of the latter type of systems is the task given to High Q Laser GmbH (Standort Wien).
PhD student currently working on the development of such laser sources will present his work and explain general concepts from the field of laser and ultrafast physics.
